About Us

Couples Counseling

I help clients improve relationship health by focusing on the individuals that make up the relationship instead of a traditional form of couples or marriage counseling. This is not because individual counseling is somehow better than traditional couples or marriage counseling, but simply because of my philosophy of individual self-care and the counseling process. I believe that the individual’s ability to make healthy choices, will ultimately affect any relationship they are involved.

This does not mean that family members are excluded from the counseling process. However, all consents, appropriate documentation and releases of information must be obtained prior to any other members joining the counseling process. And after any members join a session the original patient still remains the client.

If multiple family members are seeking counseling, each must  provide their individual consent, and they will have their own treatment path. Each person in the counseling process is a separate client with confidentiality, rights, and responsibilities. This means that confidentiality will not be broken between members of the family that is shared in individual sessions. Members of the same family must provide a written release permitting information to be share with members of family if other members of the family join sessions.
