How it all works.

The focus of treatment is not the symptoms, but on the provision of quality care for the person themselves who is seeking assistance in their life. It is my philosophical belief that healing comes from within. I believe that people are capable at their core. And when we are able to give ourselves a chance to consider what we really feel and think about the challenges in their life, we can see more clearly.

Furthermore, as people are understood and cared for, they gain self-acceptance and validation that which fosters healing from the variety of stressors and traumas that life has thrown upon us. We all know and understand the concept that a cared for person will improve in their disposition and outlook on life. My aim is to assist clients in improving their own self-care, patience with self and self-understanding, and as a result make their own desired life changes.

There will be an initial evaluation which identifies the goals of the client based on their history and undesired emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. From there we will gauge the frequency and intensity of those experiences and move towards developing a plan to address them.

My treatment approach is rooted in treating the person, not their diagnosis. Self-care techniques and coping skills are taught and improved upon to help the client better deal with life’s stressors as well as decrease the impact of triggers. For specific conditions, psychological techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy would be utilized. For more information on cognitive behavioral therapy, click here.

For some cases, medication management may be required to enhance the healing process. In those situations, the client would be referred to a medical professional or the client’s primary care physician.
